MY COMMITMENT TO THE HAKOMI CODE OF ETHICS

Professional Practice & Ethical Integrity Framework

As a practitioner utilizing the Hakomi Method of Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy, I am deeply committed to the highest standards of professional conduct, integrity, and client welfare. I strictly honor and align my practice with the official Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics established by the Hakomi Institute.

1. CORE HAKOMI PRINCIPLES

My therapeutic approach is firmly grounded in the five foundational pillars of the Hakomi Method:

• MINDFULNESS: Fostering a relaxed, non-judgmental, inward-focused state of awareness to gently study the organization of unconscious experience.

• NON-VIOLENCE: Honoring the client's defenses and resistance without force. We work 'with the grain' to allow organic, safe integration.

• ORGANICITY: Recognizing that every individual is a self-organizing system with an inherent, natural capacity for healing, growth, and wholeness.

• MIND-BODY HOLISM: Viewing the mind, body, and spirit as interconnected subsystems where core beliefs are actively expressed through somatic material.

• UNITY: Emphasizing the interdependence of all things, creating an egalitarian and deeply collaborative therapeutic relationship.

2. ETHICAL STANDARDS & CLIENT PROTECTION‍

In accordance with the Hakomi Institute's guidelines, I pledge to maintain:

• LOVING PRESENCE: Establishing a warm, safe, and deeply compassionate relational stance that honors what is fundamentally healthy and right in you.

• CLEAR BOUNDARIES & RIGHT USE OF POWER: Recognizing the inherent power differential in therapy, I ensure all interactions, professional boundaries, and fee structures remain transparent, safe, and completely non-exploitative.

• SOMATIC CONSENT & THERAPEUTIC TOUCH: When body-centered or touch-based somatic interventions are therapeutically appropriate, touch is used exclusively to aid self-awareness. It is completely non-sexual, highly collaborative, and requires ongoing verbal and written consent.

• STRICT CONFIDENTIALITY: Protecting client privacy, therapeutic notes, and personal data in accordance with legal regulations and clinical best practices.

• ONGOING ACCOUNTABILITY: Engaging in continuous peer supervision, professional development, and operating strictly within my defined clinical scope of practice.
